Send Photos for the 2006-2007 St. Rita Yearbook! (2 September 2006)
The St. Rita Yearbook Staff is requesting your favorite photos from activities, sporting events, competitions, celebrations, and field trips you capture during the school year. We cannot guarantee all photos will make it into the final yearbook, but we'll do our best to include great photos captured throughout the year by St. Rita students, families and friends!
Simply send a few of the best photos from the St. Rita School activity or event to stritayearbook@covad.net and we'll add it to the 2006-2007 collection!
For each photo you submit:
- Provide the name and date of the event
- Include the names of people in the photo, if known
Digital image files: Photos from your digital camera? Two megapixel (2M) images or higher will provide adequate resolution for reproduction in the yearbook.
Photo prints: Favorite photo for the yearbook on film? Provide a copy in an envelope to the School Office titled “St. Rita Yearbook Staff.” Please provide a copy as the photos will not be returned.
If you have questions about sending photos, you may also send an email us and a member of the staff will follow up with you. Thank you and the St. Rita Yearbook Staff looks forward to your photo submissions for the 2006-2007 Yearbook!
First day of school was August 28 for grades 1-8, and September 5 for Kindergarten. (6 August 2006)
New initiatives for 2006-2007:
- New textbooks, materials and maps for Social Studies curriculum at all grade levels.
- New textbooks, materials and hands on equipment for Science curriculum at all grade levels.
- Transition to Spanish language instruction in all grades, with academic program instituted for grades sixth through eighth.
- Reconfiguration / remodeling of current computer classroom to provide additional instructional classroom, computer lab and counseling/resource center.
- Development Office to be established in current “clinic” area.
- A courtyard beautification program will be started as well as the replacement of all fences around the school property.
- Relocation of Title One services to convent classroom — removal of old Title One trailer from school property.
Continuing initiatives begun in 2005-2006:
- Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on First Fridays.
- Development Office activities under the direction of a Development Director.
- Faculty leadership teams in primary, elementary, middle school and special class levels with team leaders at each level.
- Monthly Science lessons with sophomore class from Bishop Ireton.
- Six levels of instruction in math for middle school.
- Formal mentoring program for new teachers.
- Faculty pay scale increased over Diocesan pay scale.
- Additional school lunch offering from Noodles and Company.
- Prayer partnerships established between second and eighth grades.
- After school enrichment programs.
- Legacy Tea initiated during Catholic Schools Week to honor alumni as well as additional Open Houses and St. Rita Day at Barnes and Noble.
- Monthly “Principal’s Forum” meetings with parents.
- Evening adult education programs for parents.
Initiatives accomplished during the 2005-2006 school year:
- New philosophy, mission and vision statements written and introduced to all members of school community.
- Full implementation of the Saxon math program in grades K-8.
- Full implementation of “Faith and Life” series for Religion instruction in all grades.
- Science and math supply closet established in computer lab for teacher use.
- Computerization of report cards for grades 4-8.
- Funding and staffing of additional middle school math position.
- Networking and Internet access established on new computers in all classrooms.
- Email accounts established for all faculty and staff.
- School day extended by 30 minutes.
