For the third time, the students of Saint Rita School were invited to recite the Pledge of Allegiance at the National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast, June 8th. This annual event, attended by religious leaders from all over the country, highlights the needs of the Hispanic communities and features a wide variety of speakers including government leaders. This year, President Bush attended the Breakfast and spoke to those in attendance.

Besides her official duties in Afghanistan, Mrs. Stemniski also helped with the distribution of school supplies from Saint Rita School for the students in Afghanistan in October 2004 (click here for pictures and her note to the students). She also sent pictures of the dedication of the “Tangi Kalay School Of Peace” in March 2005.

A very successful St. Rita School 5K Fun Run & Walk for Education was run on Sunday, November 13th at Huntley Meadows Park in Alexandria. (November 13, 2005)
190 folks came out for the big event and Josephine Cunningham and her team sends special thanks “…to all the school families and St. Rita parishioners, our special guests, and to our unfailing sponsors. Many thanks and God bless you! You made it happen!”
The 5-K Run made over $12,000 … every penny benefiting St. Rita School.

Playground Upkeep Day on Saturday, August 27th, at 8:00 a.m.
(Rain date is Sun., Aug. 28th, at 3:00 p.m.)
Come to help spread mulch, put a new coat of paint on our blacktop games, and paint a coat of sealant on our wood playground structures. For mulch, please bring wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes, and gloves. 8th graders can participate for Confirmation service hour credit. Please sign up on the Parent Service Program registration form (Playground Upkeep Committee) if you plan to come.
Welcome Coffee, Tues., September 6th, at 8:15 a.m.
Mark your calendars for this first school day after Labor Day and plan to come meet HSA Officers and other school parents. The reception will be held in the Parish Center. Younger siblings are welcome!
